WE ARE A COLLECTIVE OF INTERDISCIPLINARY STUDENTS, READY TO RUN ANY CRISIS OF IMAGINATION THROUGH OUR KALEIDOSCOPIC LENSES

Nice to meet you, we are a group of students from Utrecht University who go under the name of the RijnsWeirdos. A  strange name you might think but one with meaning behind it. It came about during a group project under the direction of The Urban Futures Studio. The name comes from our first project  in Rijnsweerd-Noord, the Rijn, and then the Weirdo comes from our desire to unleash the homo ludens, the playing animal - because nothing is ever too strange or weird.

We operate on a neighbourhood scale - the perfect size, not too big, not too small.  We see this as an ideal scale for experimenting and testing new ideas and practices.

Isabel is a spatial planner, concerned with the use of space. She is ambitious, attentive and aware of the complexities of futuring. She is our informal team leader. "As a RijnsWeirdo, I have broadened my horizon so much, by working together with my lovely teammates from different disciplines".

Justin is a Sustainable Development student. He is our energetic idea generator. He is the philosopher of our team and never stops thinking, since "the future is messy". He writes breathtaking travel logs too.

Zoë studies Sustainable Business and Innovation. She is our creative and artistic mind. As an international student, she is very open-minded and concerned with different publics. "Our quality is that no idea is too crazy!"

Max is an urban geographer, studying the way people use the city in their daily lives. He is the motivator of our team helping the others to keep up the great work. "The RijnsWeirdos can generate more ideas in a week than one could possibly imagine!"
